Child Care Resource and Referral is dedicated to linking parents, childcare providers, employers and the community and in providing accessible, affordable, quality child care to all children.

Looking for quality Childcare?

Questions to ask….

Is the provider registered with the Child Care Division?

Does the provider have current training child development, CPR and other

critical knowledge for childcare? Are there written policies and procedures for

services, fees and emergencies? Does your provider share your values and love of

children? Are the hours suitable and the fees affordable? What is the provider’s

approach to discipline/guidance?

 
 

Something’s to look for... 

Toys that are age appropriate for all children.

Group size and ages are acceptable.  Children are happy, comfortable and

involved.  The indoor and outdoor stage is safe and suitable for children in

care.  The setting is clean, well ventilated and the environment smell is

pleasant.  Each child is treated as an individual.  No corporal punishment. 

There is a working telephone.  Parents and guardians may drop in and visit any

time.   

   FOR PARENTS

Provide referrals to a variety of child care options including centers, family child 
care homes, before and after school care, preschools. Provide information on how 
to choose safe, appropriate care. Provide information on community resources. 
Assist in finding care for children with special needs.  Provide information on classes, 
support groups and special events for parents and/or children.

      FOR PROVIDERS

Provide referrals to support child care business.  Maintain current information on individual childcare programs. Provide resources and training on how to improve childcare and business skills. Assist in linking providers with professional support groups and other child care providers in Coos and Curry County counties. Provide a quarterly newsletter current training and opportunities in the child care and education field.

           FOR BUSINESSES

Provide enhanced referrals which match parents needs with child care providers. Provide on-site workshops and summer education materials regarding quality childcare and issues around balancing work and family. Assist employers in addressing the child care needs of their employees.

          FOR THE COMMUNITY

Provide a coordinated linkage between families, child care providers, employers, community resource agencies and local, county and state government agencies in the development of a comprehensive child care system.  Promote greater public awareness of the importance of quality child care.  Provide on-going statistical information on the current status of child care on the south coast.
